HM Cayman Islands Prison Service is a correctional institution entrusted with the responsibility of the safe and secure imprisonment of offenders in the Cayman Islands. With a commitment to public safety, we aim to provide a secure, safe, and humane correctional environment that fosters rehabilitation and successful reintegration.

We are guided by our core values of Decency, Integrity, Commitment, and Excellence (DICE), professionalism, respect, accountability, and teamwork as we strive to uphold the highest standards of service delivery in all aspects of our operations.Our services include secure incarceration, comprehensive rehabilitation programs, healthcare, and proactive community engagement initiatives.

Organisation and Functions

His Majesty's Cayman Islands Prison Service (HMCIPS) is dedicated to the custody, care, and rehabilitation of offenders, ensuring public safety and facilitating their reintegration into society. Operating under the Ministry of Home Affairs, HMCIPS manages the islands' correctional facilities, providing secure confinement, healthcare, and a range of rehabilitation programs such as educational courses, vocational training, and substance abuse treatment.

His Majesty’s Cayman Islands Prison Service (HMCIPS) was first established in 1981. The Prisons Act (2021 Revision) sets out the policy and resource framework within HMCIPS’ functions. HMCIPS is responsible for those who are committed to its care by the Courts and is accountable to the Ministry of Home Affairs for the delivery of custodial services, under the CIG’s Annual Budget Statement.
