His Majesty King Charles III
His Majesty, King Charles III, formerly known as the Prince of Wales, was born in 1948 and became heir apparent on the accession of Queen Elizabeth II in 1952.
On the death of Queen Elizabeth II, on Thursday, 8 September, His Majesty immediately acceded the throne, ushering in a new era for the British Monarchy.
In his first public address as King, His Majesty pledged his commitment to a life dedicated to serving the people of the United Kingdom, Commonwealth and Overseas Territories.
Paying tribute to his late mother, The King vowed to continue to uphold the values that made Queen Elizabeth II a beloved figure during her reign, those of loyalty, respect and love.
As The Prince of Wales, His Majesty long played an active role in official and ceremonial duties in the United Kingdom and overseas. In 2019, His Majesty spent time in the Cayman Islands, visiting all three islands while here.
The King has worked closely with many charitable organisations, himself establishing more than 20 charities over 40 years including The Prince’s Trust, The Prince’s Foundation and The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Fund. He publicly supported a wide variety of causes relating to the environment, rural communities, the built environment, the arts, healthcare and education.

King's Birthday 2025
The Cayman Islands celebrated His Majesty King Charles III’s official birthday on Monday, 23 June 2025.
The activities commenced at Government House on West Bay Road with a parade by the uniformed service and youth organisations, filled with the customary pomp and circumstance.
Her Excellency The Governor Jane Owen received the First Royal Salute and conducted the official inspection of the parade, followed by the presentation of honours nd awards to this year’s honorees.
The King’s Birthday Parade was live streamed on CIGTV and the Cayman Islands Government YouTube channel.

On Sunday, 11 September 2022 following the first public proclamation at St James's Palace in London, in a solemn ceremony that ushered in a new era while paying homage to centuries-old pageantry, the Cayman Islands along with other Overseas Territories & Realms joined together to pledge allegiance to the new Sovereign, His Majesty King Charles III, who was crowned alongside The Queen Consort at Westminster Abbey, London on Saturday, 6 May 2023.

The Cayman Islands will observe the official birthday of His Majesty King Charles III on Monday, 23 June 2025. To mark the occasion there will be a special parade and presentation of honours in front of Government House on West Bay Road at 8:00 am.
