Administration Unit
The key services delivered by the Administration Unit include the provision of the financial, operational and technological management responsibilities, as well as the oversight of the customer service and tribunal services as stipulated under the Labour Act, National Pensions Act, and the Public Management and Finance Act.
The responsibility of this unit also includes the provision of information-sharing, internal complaint and records management duties as stipulated under the Freedom of Information Act, Data Protection Act, Complaints (Maladministration) Act, and National Archive and Public Records legislation.
In respect to the tribunal services, the unit has oversight of the Labour Tribunal and the Labour Appeals Tribunal. Both tribunals are subject to follow the seven (7) Nolan Principles of Public Life and these include:

Both tribunals must employ the highest standard of ethical behaviours being Accessibility, Timeliness, Optimum Value for Cost and Congeniality.

Labour Tribunal
The Labour Tribunal is a quasi-judicial body established for the purpose of adjudicating labour claims from employees against their former employers. As an independent body that is separate from the Department of Labour & Pensions, its remit is limited to the claims of Severance Pay and Unfair Dismissal complaints, and requests for the waiver of overtime benefits as stipulated under the Labour Act and Labour Tribunal Regulations.
This tribunal is selected from a panel of persons appointed by the Cabinet. The panel comprises of a Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson and Members appointed for a period of two (2) years from the date of appointment. Each panel is responsible for conducting fair and impartial hearings, reviewing evidential material and applying the relevant sections in the legislation as per the Labour Act (2021 Revision) in order for a legally reasoned decision within the statutory timeframe to be made.

Labour Appeals Tribunal
The Labour Appeals Tribunal is the higher quasi-judicial independent body also established for the purpose of adjudicating labour claims in the form of Severance Pay, Unfair Dismissal, and Overtime Waivers appealed from the Labour Tribunal to the Labour Appeals Tribunal. These appealed claims follow the guidance in accordance with the Labour Act and Labour Regulations.
This tribunal is selected from a panel of persons appointed by the Cabinet. The panel comprises of a maximum of nine (9) members, of which a Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson(s) and Members are appointed for a period of one (1) year from the date of appointment. Like the Labour Tribunal, each panel is responsible for conducting fair and impartial hearings, reviewing evidential material and applying the relevant sections in the legislation as per the Labour Act (2021 Revision) in order for a legally reasoned decision within the statutory timeframe is made.
