DHRS Launches Online Practitioner Renewal Portal
The Department of Health Regulatory Services (DHRS) is excited to announce the launch of a new online portal that allows registered practitioners to complete their biennial renewals quickly and easily, entirely online.
Built in partnership with the Department of eGovernment (eGov), this secure platform replaces the old paper-based system, eliminating the need for manual submission of paperwork and in-person payment. Renewals will now be faster, simpler and more convenient. Before launching, the platform was evaluated and tested by a selected group of practitioners to ensure quality and uncover any potential bugs or issues to be rectified.
“DHRS staff have been working diligently behind the scenes on a comprehensive project to upgrade the heavily manual based system to an automated system. To better serve our customers, it will improve the efficiency and the way we work to support the Commission and Councils with their statutory functions,” explained Mr. Mervyn Conolly, DHRS Director and Project Sponsor. “Our ability to launch this portion of the project at this time, will reduce the anxiety and positively impact the method in which registered healthcare practitioners are able to submit their renewal applications to the Councils. This is indeed a significant accomplishment, and just one of many more upgrades to come.”
The convenient new system will allow practitioners to log on to the secure portal of the Health Practice Commission, hosted on the DHRS website to complete an online version of the renewal application. All required documents can be uploaded and once completed, the form can be submitted digitally. Payments can be made through a choice of methods, including online credit card, electronic funds transfer, or in-person. The process will also be supported and monitored with notifications relating to the status of applications, including any issues that may arise communicated real time by DHRS.
“Under my leadership, we’ve begun transforming outdated systems to better serve our healthcare professionals,” said Hon. Katherine Ebanks-Wilks, Minister for Health, Environment and Sustainability. “This new portal helps practitioners renew their licenses without delay, so they can continue delivering vital care across our islands. It’s not just about improving systems, its about empowering those who care for us.”
Minister Ebanks-Wilks added, “We often think of healthcare reform as something we do for patients, but it’s just as important to support our practitioners. Efficient licensing and registrations systems are key to accountability and quality of care.”
“This is a significant achievement for the DHRS team,” said Chief Officer Tamara Ebanks. “The phased roll out gives staff and clients time to adjust and collaborate. These enhancements will help reduce delays and ensure continuity of service, strengthening care across the Cayman Islands.”
Registered practitioners can now logon to https://my.egov.ky/web/hpc to renew their practicing licences online. Step-by-step user guides providing detailed guidance on how to access and use the new system, are available on the portal. Alternatively, practitioners can contact 345 949-2813 for more information.
